without question the top rated wide receiver in fantasy football entering the
season. Why has Calvin Johnson torpedoed his owners seasons, and is there any
hope for Megatron?
The answer is simple, yet complex. Halfway through the season, Johnson has only one touchdown. What is more concerning than that is he has been held to under five catches and 55 yards in three of the seven games played. He is being played physical at the line of scrimmage and his knee injury isn't helping the situation either. He has been a fantasy disaster.
As we peer forward, here is who Johnson has left on the schedule.
Jacksonville: A matchup Johnson should exploit. The Jags allow over 90 yards to #1 receivers.
Minnesota: The first time around, the Vikings only allowed Megatron five catches for 54 yards. We question whether a rematch will see any different results as the Vikings have held Johnson in check in recent matchups.
Green Bay: The last time Johnson played the Packers, he torched them for 11 catches and 244 yards. He scored both times he played Green Bay last year. He faces the Pack twice in the last half of the season.
Houston: The Texans are tops in the NFL against opposing #1 receivers. Houston is allowing a mere 40 yards per game.
Indianapolis: Stingy against #1's. Only 65 yards per game.
Arizona: The Cards have given up an average of 84 yards per game.
Atlanta: Stingy? You bet. Opposing #1's average 33 yards per game against the dirty birds.
Chicago: What is worse than the performance against Minnesota was his showing against the Bears. Three catches for 34 yards. What's more is that the Bears are allowing only 81 yards to opposing #1 receivers.
