There are only two games
scheduled in the NFL tonight, but those two have what on paper appear to be two
of the better offenses in the NFL.
Cleveland at Green Bay:
To say the Packer offense struggled in the preseason opener against San Diego would be an
understatement. As a caution, it is only preseason, but the offensive line gave
Aaron Rodgers absolutely no time to throw the football and the running game saw
little results as James Starks was injured. Now the Pack have veteran Cedric
Benson and while there is nothing flashy nor spectacular about Benson, he has a
pulse and the Packers are hoping he can provide some relief in the run game. Wide
receiver Greg Jennings is still not cleared to play after a concussion knocked
him out of the teams scrimmage.
Cleveland rookie
quarterback Brandon Weeden will continue his on the job training. In his debut,
he completed only three of nine passes for 62 yards and an interception against
the Lions. Weeden will see more action tonight than the two series he picked up
in the opener.
Cincinnati at Atlanta:
How do you improve on the performance Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones had
in the preseason opener? We are about to find out. Matt Ryan completed
six-of-six passes on the teams opening drive finishing with a 7 yard touchdown
strike to Jones.
The Bengals win over the Jets wasn't pretty. BenJarvus Green Ellis made his
2012 and Cincy debut and carried seven times for 22 yards. Andy Dalton passed
for 54 yards on four of nine passing.
