Peyton Hillis

Peyton Hillis

Week Ten Drop: My worst tout of the preseason was Peyton Hillis as a plausible fantasy starter. I was nervous about Jamaal Charles for several reasons. And, it turned out that many of those concerns were valid. But it hasn't translated into anything usable for Hillis. Many of you were waiting for him to get healthy, and see what he'd do last Thursday. He answered it with a resounding two yards per carry.

Week Three Analysis:
A critical goal-line fumble threw a wet blanket over an otherwise encouraging day for Peyton Hillis last week. Jamaal Charles left early with knee soreness, and Hillis took advantage by rumbling for 91 total yards on 13 touches. Although Charles is fully expected to be back this week, the matchup with New Orleans seems to favor Hillis. The Saints are surrendering just 3.8 yards per-carry, but they've already ceded five touchdowns to opposing backs through two weeks. Hillis remains the best bet for short-yardage duties, and there's no guarantees with Charles at this point.

Week One Analysis:
At the risk of violating my restraining order, I'm going to talk about Peyton Hillis now. The Albino Rhino reunites with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who transformed Hillis from a pawn in the Brady Quinn trade into the Madden cover boy. Jamaal Charles' ACL recovery comes with no guarantees, and Hillis has already worked his way into something resembling a 50-50 timeshare. Running behind an outstanding offensive line, Hillis is the vastly superior goal line back to Charles, and an equally gifted pass-catcher. For all these reasons, Hillis begins the season as the preferred K.C. fantasy back, and there's nothing intimidating about Atlanta's run defense.
