Jason Snelling hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown all year, and didn’t have a carry on Monday night. But this is as good of a chance as you’ll see. First, the Falcons will have nothing to play for, if the Lions win in the early afternoon games. In that event, resting Michael Turner makes sense. Second, the Buccaneers run defense is, flat out, the league’s worst. They’ve allowed the most rushing touchdowns, 17, and over the past five games, they’ve given up 155 rushing yards per game, worst in the league. Last week, they gave up 183 rushing yards to Carolina’s runners, and another 65 to their quarterback, Cam Newton. The Falcons know the same thing we all do: Michael Turner is looking tired. By giving Jason Snelling copious carries against a flagging defense, the Falcons can rest Turner, and still dominate on the ground.
